The 1st SSAG gathering of the new academic year of 2004

SSAG is known as Singapore Student Association Germany. They organised a 1st dinner to gathering the students from Singapore, who study or doing exchange in Germany.

There were about 20 people then and we had 2 tables. The photo above was only from one of the table.

We had our dinner at one of the chinese restaurant. The waiters there speak cantonese. The foods there taste almost the same as the restaurants in Malaysia or in Singapore. The quality doesnt change.

My 2nd semester thesis

I was working with my 2nd semester thesis during my exchange program in TUM. The title was:

Influences of renewable energies on the future design of fossil power plants
with Siemens AG under Lehrstuhl fuer Produktentwicklung TUM

This project was assigned by Siemens, as they need someone to do some research on renewable energies in Germany for the future.

The photo above were the team members. I was the only foreigner. I have lernt lots of thing from this group. They are very independent and capable when being assigned with some tasks and handling works.

I completed the 1st phrase of the project with them but i couldnt stay till the end because I had to moved house to another city for my Siemens internship.

Thanks to them who were willing to spend time to assist me when I didnt understand. Especially to Joseph and Andrea. Thank you.

My 1st semester Thesis with BMW AG

After knowing the phD student in TUM, Robert, an ex exchange student to NUS, he introduced me to a senior scientist, who recommended me to do a semester thesis with big company instead of just attending lecture.

After considering the advantages and drawbacks of both options, I think it is a good idea. So, I found myself a semester thesis with BMW.

Title: Seat Comfort.

This thesis has been already carried out by few students. My job is to continue the project.

I have to find 16 subjects to test 6 sit settings, meassure their back and bottom's pressure distribution by using a pressure mattress and laptop, then interview them about their comfort at their back and bottom, then using excel and PSA software to analys the reading.

Every subject has to drive for about 6 hours ( in two days) and guess what..they drove me around to different towns :D (because they knew that I am an exchange student)

The photo above is the adjustment for the seat settings. I have been working alot with those buttons.

Later on Jorge, another exchange student from Mexico, who is also one of the subjects, is interested in the project and wants to be part of it. So i shared half of my subjects with him and my workloads were decreased into half.

My life at Studentenstadt

The people in the photo are my floormates. They are from Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, Chile, Japan and of course... MALAYSIA!!

This photo were taken after the cleaning up of the kichen and the common room. Then we had a small party.

Usually about once a week some friends and I would gather to cook and eat dinner. It was mostly on friday or saturday night. Some of the faces below might be quite familiar to some of you who have been reading my blog. There are two new faces here. The one at the front which read T shirt is from Vietname but has been staying in the US for some some time. The girl at the back is from China. She is Ah Peng.

Those time were very memorable...

My new home...

I just stayed at CDC for one month because of the language course. After that, I would move to a student hostel of the Uni.

My new home would be at Studentenstadt. Below is the picture of the building where i would stay.

Studentenstadt is one of the biggest student lodging area in Europe. There are many different buildings around that area, tall, short, fat, thin... heheehe

My new home has 2 stories. I would stay on the 2nd level. Each level there are about 10 rooms, some of them are double room. Every level has a shared shower, toilet, common room and a kitchen.

I still dont know who my roomate is.... hopefully we could get along well.

I am pretty excited as I dont know what to expect from there. hmm...
let's see...

The photo below is taken from my room. It was Autumn...

Bye BYe CDC... :(

Well well... the time in CDC passed quite fast!! One month of german course...

Now I have to move house because the semester in TUM is going to start.

I will be moving to Studentenstadt, still in Munich. Maybe 30 minutes away from CDC. I have met many friends there from Africa, Japan, China, Korea, Russia, Sweden, Norway...

I was a bit sad but yet excited because I am going to meet new friends, new roomate!!!

Below are some of my friends who were there when I left.
